Teach Your Kids How To Cook Making Pizza And Chocolate Cookies
Most kids love to help out in the kitchen, and love it even more making things they love to eat. There are many things you can make, such as pizza, and chocolate cookies.
Pizza On A Stone
A pizza stone can be purchased through most home supply stores, and it is the way to bake a perfect pizza.
Preheat your oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, place the stone on an inverted baking sheet, and put it on the lowest rack in the oven. Let it heat while you are making the pizza.
Place one pound of dough on your counter top, floured pizza peel, parchment paper, or wooden cutting board. Spread the dough out until it is the size of pizza you want. The kids will have a great time making the dough, if you are making it yourself.
Let the kids help you choose the toppings for the pizza, and help you put them on. Let them be creative if they want, and put things you normally would not think of.
You could make some scrambled eggs and bacon and spread it over the pizza to have for breakfast. You could make some mac and cheese and put it over the pizza. You could also cook some ground beef, put marinara sauce on it, put it on the pizza, top with cheese, and you have a cheeseburger pizza. Of course, you can make the traditional pizza with pizza sauce, toppings, and cheese on top.
Remove the heated pizza stone from the oven, and slide the pizza on it. Place the stone back into the oven on a middle rack, and bake it about 15 minutes or until the crust is a golden brown.
Easy Chocolate Cookies
One of the best things most kids like to make in the kitchen is cookies. Keeping the recipe as easy as possible is more fun for them. One recipe you can make together that is easy is chocolate cookies.
- One box of devil's food cake mix
- One teaspoon of vanilla
- Two large eggs
- One-half cup of vegetable oil
- One-fourth cup of white sugar
Prepare the Cookies
Heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Put the cake mix, eggs, vanilla, and oil in a mixing bowl, and mix until a dough forms.
Shape the dough into one-inch balls, and then roll them in sugar. This is where the kids have the most fun when making this recipe.
Place the cookie balls onto an ungreased cookie sheets two inches apart. Bake the cookies eight to 10 minutes or until they are set.
Let the cookies cool for one minute, and then transfer them to a wire cooling rack to let them cool down enough to eat them. If you have cookies left over, store them in a tightly covered container.
This recipe makes about two dozen cookies, depending on how large you make the balls.
Let your kids do as much of the work as they can when making the pizza and cookies.
